Police in Airdrie are looking for the public’s help to identify a man involved in the alleged theft of over $2,600 in medication from a Shoppers Drug Mart location without the staff of the store even noticing.
Officials say that at about 7:00 p.m. on February 22, two men entered the Shoppers Drug Mart at 401 Coopers Boulevard S.W. in Airdrie.
The suspects entered separately and did not appear to be shopping together at the time.
The theft was not fully realized until the following day when a review of security footage showed the pair working together, loading a shopping cart with over-the-counter drugs and bagging them in green bags. The pair then worked together, passing the bagged items outside in a certain way to avoid the alarm systems set up at the exit.
Police say the estimated value of the stolen drugs is approximately $2,671.75.
Security footage captured a clear image of one of the suspects, who described as:
- Caucasian male
- believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s
- short, dark coloured hair
- clean shaven
- 177.5 cm tall
- athletic build
He was wearing a brown baseball cap with a logo, a blue and grey hooded shirt and jeans.
