Being a solopreneurs, you will find yourself juggling between multiple things at a time, wearing multiple hats at a time, but hey, being a solopreneur is not so bad and branding a business for a solopreneur is not so difficult either. In this article, I am going to share with you some effective tips for solopreneurs to build a brand out there.
So let’s get started:
Take inspiration from everything
Dear solopreneurs, the best way you can build a brand for yourself is to seek inspiration from everything. You might not be the only one in this niche, right? Look out for your competitors, what they are doing, how they are branding themselves. Even if there are other great people who not belong to your niche, you can seek some great branding ideas.
While you are at it, you might come across some great brand tactics like some specific font or some great illustration, you can make a note of it. Simultaneously, you will also encounter a few branding tactics that you didn’t like at all. Being clear of what you want and what you don’t will help you make wiser choices in long term.
Analyze your motives:
While you are out there looking at every top business as inspiration, don’t forget to analyze your motives again and again. Loving a logo just because “it’s cool” won’t make the cut. Use your brains guys. Analyze every single thing. Always ask yourself, Will this brand tactic be as effective and relevant to my business as well? Consider your brand vision, culture and core message whenever you want to go for a branding tactic used by others. Because if the tactic doesn’t relate to your niche, you are just wasting your time, efforts and money.
Build a visual identity:
Many a times, you don’t even need a Ninja technique to make people remember you, simple branding techniques are sometimes equally effective. In this era of www, having a visual identity in the form of logo is all it takes. Look at the Logo of famous Ecommerce site, Amazon. Although it looks plain, when you look deeper, you will realize the meaning. The Yellow arrow in the logo starts from A to ends at Z, indicating they have everything from a to z. On the other hand, the arrow also indicates a simple smile, thus happiness while shopping here. Logo although being a small icon, can leave a lasting impression on your customer’s mind. And while starting up, you don’t need to pull your hairs while designing your logo from the scratch. There are plenty of online logo maker tools using which you can easily design your own logo within few minutes. Some of the common logo maker tools are Canva, DesignMantic, LogoMakr, etc. So go ahead and give your brand the best visual identity.
Details is what matters:
Customers have become more observant than you or I have ever imagined. They notice everything. A small err, and they won’t spare you. So every brand element you choose must go with your branding guidelines. Slight mismatch, and they won’t hesitate ditching you. Even a minor wrong choice can leave a long lasting bad impression on your customers’ minds and ruin your brand image for forever.
Leverage print design:
Yeah, yeah migrating to virtual world is all that matters nowadays, but we should never forget that the customers are human beings, not virtual beings. In some cases, the best way to reach out the audience is by crafting a physical collection. A great print design that tells all about you can do wonders. It can either be in the form of a business card or a simple brochure that can showcase your out-of-the-box thinking.
Get on Social media:
With its vast reach, social media nowadya tops the list as the best place to build a brand. Advance targeting tools provided by these social media networks can help you connect with those who need you the most. With social media, you can enhance your brand identity as being active on any of the social networks will help your customers connect with you on a deeper level. For eg. Linkedin implies professional, while Twitter is for quirkyness and fun. So guys, don’t get wrong here.
Dear solopreneurs, the idea here is to develop the branding plan as soon as you start. When you have clear goals in place, you are more likely to build a consistent brand that denotes your business as the top.
